Allowing a New Identity to Emerge: Beauty, Art, and the Woman You’re Becoming
What If Beauty Was Your Compass in 2026?
We are stepping into a year already marked by uncertainty. The headlines are heavy, the pace relentless, and so much around us feels unpredictable. And yet—I believe that the woman I’m called to serve is not here to be consumed by the chaos.
She is awake to something more.
She senses that despite the noise, the unrest, the weariness—she was made for greater. She longs to rise above survival and live in alignment with what is good, true, beautiful, and possible.
Not in denial of the world’s pain, but in devotion to a deeper truth: that she can still choose how she moves through it.
This post is for her—for you—if you’re ready to reclaim presence, beauty, and quiet power in a world that often forgets such things even exist.
The Artist’s Role in Uncertain Times
A dear friend gifted me a book called On Beauty and Faith, and one line stopped me in my tracks:
"The artist helps us see beyond our bleak realities into what is still possible. We give the world slivers of hope. We lead them, along with ourselves, into the optimism we cannot yet see.”
That’s when it hit me: this is exactly what I’ve been trying to do.
Through my work, my podcast, and my own becoming, I’ve been reclaiming the Artist in me—not just the scientist, the psychologist, the coach. But the one who creates, who sees, who invites others to reimagine.
For so long, I carried the identity of “the smart girl,” the overachiever, the helper, the psychotherapist. I didn’t call myself an artist, even though creativity pulsed through me. I had told myself a story: I didn’t belong in that space.
Maybe you’ve done that too—laid aside a part of yourself that felt too frivolous, too unproven, too risky to claim.
But what if this is the year you pick it back up?
A New Way of Seeing
I believe we’re being called to something deeper right now. Not to “fix” what’s broken in us—but to return to what’s always been whole.
The Artist in each of us is the part that says:
“Even here, in this mess, there is meaning.”
“Even now, I can create.”
“Even still, beauty remains.”
This isn’t about painting a canvas (though it could be). It’s about choosing to orient yourself to what is good, true, and beautiful, especially when the world feels dark.
It’s about becoming the artist of your own life—where presence is the palette, courage is the brush, and beauty is the muse.
A Personal Story (That Might Be Yours Too)
A very young Andrea (age 3) before she internalized the identity: “I’m not an artist”
When I was a little girl, I was endlessly creative—drawing, designing, dancing, dreaming. But one day, after not getting into a gifted & talented arts program, I internalized this belief:
“I’m not an artist.”
And that one moment shaped decades of how I saw myself.
It wasn’t until a health crisis in my early 40s that something shifted. A woman I barely knew looked at me and said, “Maybe you’ll come out of all this... an artist.”
It felt like God whispering back to a little girl who once dreamed in fabrics, twirls, blueprints and floor plans: “You didn’t get it wrong. You just needed time to remember.”
We all have moments like this—when a part of us was silenced, redirected, or forgotten.
Maybe 2026 isn’t about chasing something new. Maybe it’s about remembering something sacred. Something within you all along.
Who Are You Becoming?
As you move through this year, I invite you to sit with this:
Who are you becoming?
Not who you’ve been praised for being. Not who the world needs you to be.
But the woman who feels more alive, more aligned, more you.
And what if your next step wasn’t about fixing or producing—but about creating with intentionality and trust?
Beauty as a Compass
I’m not trying to predict what 2026 will bring. I’m not focused on fixing what’s broken.
Instead, I’m choosing Beauty.
Capital-B Beauty.
The kind that nourishes your soul and reawakens your senses. The kind that doesn’t need to be loud or performative.
The kind that whispers, “This is sacred.”
If this resonates with something deep in you, you don’t need to overhaul your life to begin.
Start small. Start gently.
Just start.
To help you begin, I created a digital offering called First Steps to a Beautiful Life —a quiet, guided way to reflect, reconnect, and move forward with intention.
This Is the Year
Let 2026 be the year you:
Reclaim forgotten parts of yourself.
Create rhythms that restore your joy.
Choose beauty as your compass.
You don’t need permission. You only need presence.
And if you’re ready to come home to yourself, to flourish—not in spite of what’s happening in the world but within it—then you’re in the right place.
This is your moment.
Keep flourishing,
Dr. Andrea
